3 Tonal Barbell Hacks

Here are 3 Tonal Barbell Hacks to make your workout easier and prevent hurting yourself in a heavy lift!

Even though I’m a Founding Coach at Tonal, there are so many features coming out weekly on the device that it’s hard to make a list of all of them!  One of my favorite features is all the Tonal barbell hacks that make working out with digital weights totally different from lifting in a gym.  Here are 3 hacks that will make your workout easier, keep you from kneeling down to the ground to set up your equipment, or hurting yourself in a heavy lift.

Hack #1 Off the Floor Barbell Attachment

From the stowed arm position, bring the arms out one click.  Attach the barbell into the T-locks on both sides, then pull the silver tabs on each side and lower the arms all the way down to the ground.  This keeps you from having to kneel down or bend over to setup this barbell.

Works for: Barbell Deadlift, Barbell Bicep Curl

Hack #2 Bench in Place Barbell Attachment

With Tonal arms in the down position on the ground, and the bench slid into place, turn the weight off from your Tonal screen, then bring the ball socket up to the barbell and pop the T-lock into one side, rest it on the bench, and pop in the other T-lock.

Hack #3 “Tilt and Bail” or Single Side Barbell Drop Weight Off

After lifting bench pressing heavy weight, it might be hard to reach the Tonal smartbutton to turn off the digital weights.  You need the Tilt and Bail!  This is a cool feature the engineers designed where you can let one arm bend so that the barbell tilts, and as a safety feature Tonal will turn your weight off for you.  So cool!
